Impact of Anti-Insect nettings on the GreenHouse microclimate

Bemisia tabaci or whitefly is a pest that seriously affects production, and its control is indispensable in any horticultural crop. In protected crops it is very important to make a correct selection of anti-insect net, with an adequate thread density and quality, to ensure that the insect cannot pass through its pores, and that these are of the same size over the whole surface of the netting, i.e. they are homogeneous.

Properties of Photoselective Netting

Photoselective netting has the property of projecting different parts of the spectrum, depending on the type of net and its colour. The light fraction passing through the holes in the netting remains unchanged, whereas the light hitting the yarns is spectrally modified and diffused at the exit. Depending on the pigmentation of the yarn and the weave design, with different fibres and varying density, the netting provides mixtures of unmodified light and spectrally modified dispersed light.
